Overview

 

Responsible for properly cooking all foods in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.

   

Pearl River Resort Associates are required, on a continual basis to…

 

Adhere to any and all company and departmental policies, practices and procedures.

 

Contribute to a safe work environment, through compliance with established safety guidelines, identifying potential safety hazards, and reporting same to the appropriate person for proper resolution.

       

Maintain a professional departmental, company and community reputation.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to, standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and policies and procedures.
  • Receive the food and/or beverage order from the guest.
  • Service/prepare food and beverage orders in accordance with established service standards.
  • Check with the guests on the quality and flavor of the selections delivered. Ask if any condiments or additional items can be obtained to enhance their dining experience. 
  • Maintain the inventory of the work stations. Control waste by monitoring proper rotation, storage and over production.
  • Order stock for the next day or the next shift as required.
  • Inform Supervisor or Manager on duty of any problems that are encountered during the shift.
  • Proficiently operate the established POS systems by following the correct ordering procedures, identifying the correct menu items or drinks provided and that the approved comping procedures or Player’s Club discounts are followed, when applicable.
  • Maintain the security and accuracy of their cash bank and complete each transaction.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work station, storage areas, and guest dining area, as well as outside area.
  • Operate, breakdown, clean and reassemble all kitchen equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Follow all Resort, and departmental policies and procedures, as required.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and sanitary area at all times in full accordance with State Health Regulations.
  • Follows all recipes and control procedures.
  • Assists in all areas of food production as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record.

AGE and GAMING:

21 years of age or above

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or GED is required. Two (2) years’ experience in a culinary operation such as, full service hotel or restaurant is required. 

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required. Must be Serv-Safe certified or become certified within thirty (30) days of employment at Pearl River Resort.  C.A.R.E. (Controlling Alcohol Risks Effectively) certified before starting to work.  All candidates must successfully complete the class and obtain a test score of 84% or higher.

TESTING:

Must be able to pass the Basic Math Test with 85%, must take the required testing identified for this position

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as addition subtraction and multiplication tables.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the Associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

Essential responsibilities include moderate to heavy physical ability such as lift or maneuver at least forty (40) pounds, and standing/walking 90% of the shift.  Perform position responsibilities and/or essential functions on slippery or wet surfaces.  Work with hazardous chemicals. Must be able to work while wearing latex, vinyl, or rubber gloves.  Bending, stooping and stretching of arms during assigned shift.  Able to work within a variety of temperatures and weather conditions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an Associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  When on the casino floor, the noise level increases to loud.  When on the casino floor or other designated areas may be subjected to tobacco smoke. 

Due to the unpredictable nature of the hospitality/entertainment industry, Associates must be able to work varying-schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.
